I’m not entirely sure what the author of this article is trying to accomplish, other than encouraging more lawbreaking and then making demands that Americans must accept illegal aliens. Must, or what? This article from an open-borders appeaser certainly sounds like a threat. (hat tip:MM)
From the Miami Herald:
The rapid escalation of the U.S. anti-immigration hysteria — fueled by ratings-hungry cable-television hotheads and leading Republican presidential hopefuls — is a dangerous trend: It may lead to a Hispanic intifada that may rock this nation in the not-so-distant future.
Remember the Palestinian intifada of the early 1990s, when thousands of frustrated young Palestinians took to the streets and threw stones at Israeli troops? Remember the French intifada of the summer of 2005, in which disenfranchised Muslim youths burned cars and stores in the suburbs of Paris?
If we are not careful, we may see something similar coming from the estimated 13 million undocumented immigrants in the United States, most of them Hispanic, who are increasingly vilified in the media, forced further into the underground by spineless politicians and not given any chance to legalize their status by a pusillanimous U.S. Congress.
Isn’t it odd that illegal aliens will break our nation’s laws and then have the audacity to demand that Americans must “legalize their status?” I know that the majority simply want to make a better life for themselves and their families, and I understand that. But why don’t they make demands in their home countries and actually fix the problems there? I am tired of seeing pandering to lawbreakers. No one is responsible for the personal situation of illegal aliens in the United States other than the illegals themselves.
It’s not xenophobia to expect our nation’s laws, borders, and sovereignty to be enforced. It’s not racist to expect our nation to not pander to any particular group of people. On the contrary, to single out one group, and cater to them only, is inherently racist. We accept more legal immigrants from Mexico than from any other nation. Legal immigrants are perfectly fine, Americans have no qualms with them. Legal immigrants, including those from Mexico, that follow our laws, policies, and procedures, jump through the hoops to come here the right way, and seek to truly become an American, are the types of folks we should embrace. But the pandering and catering to the whims and demands of lawbreakers needs to stop.
The illegals and their supporters say that we can’t enforce our nation’s laws and borders and can’t make them leave. Wanna bet? Si se puede.
