Recently, Rush Limbaugh was lambasted by the Democrats, particularly the far left, for referring to “phony soldiers.”  The left is portraying Rush’s comments as a smear against any former member of the military who speaks out against the war in Iraq.  Democrats have denounced his comments, even going so far as to call for a Congressional resolution against him for daring to say something they didn’t like or approve of.  They said they considered it a slap in the face to all members of the military who are serving in Iraq.  I guess implying they’re stupid, political hacks, liars, or that their efforts are lost is ok though, right Senators Reid, Kerry, and Clinton?

However, where the hell was their righteous indignation when the far-left group MoveOn.org posted the “General Betray Us” ad in the New York Times?  Exactly.  There was none.  To the left, it’s ok to bash any member of the military who speaks in favor of the war, accuse them of being brainwashed or partisan political hacks for the Bush agenda.  But if someone dares to comment about any member of the military who speaks against the war, then the left calls for censorship, rebuke, condemnation, and censure (even though Rush is a private citizen, and not a member of Congress).  Hell, one Senator even went so far as to say that Rush didn’t have the right to say what he wants.  Um, excuse me?  The right?  Does the good Senator not comprehend the meaning and intent of the First Amendment?

However, just the morning before, and again after the phone call where he made the comment about phony soldiers, Rush was referring to an individual named Jesse MacBeth.  MacBeth was the poster boy for the anti-war far left and claimed to have committed atrocities while serving in Iraq with the Army Rangers.  One little problem though… MacBeth never served in Iraq and had actually washed out of basic training before even becoming a full-fledged solder.  In other words, it was all lies.  He was a phony soldier.

In addition to MacBeth, a few other examples of (allegedly) phony soldiers or trumped up tales include: Jimmy Massey, Micah Wright, Amorita Randall, Josh Lansdale, Scott Beauchamp, among others.  Even the Mayor of Atlantic City, Robert Levy, although he apparently did indeed serve in Vietnam, was not actually a member of the Special Forces as he had falsely claimed.  Mayor Levy is also now missing.

As a matter of fact, the government is reportedly currently investigating more than 60 “phony soldier” cases.

But, for the Dems, none of that matters.  They see an opportunity to trounce a Conservative, even while ignoring the facts and outlandish claims, accusations, and advertisements by their own minions.  Politics, as usual.
